I remember my first concert ever, "An Evening with Diana Ross" in 1976. She introduced the Jones Girls - "Don't they sound like the Supremes?". They were wonderful.

Always remember Robbie (Vincent, who else?) drily introducing 'Nights Over Egypt' as 'Nights Over Barking Reach'. Lav it!

Their feeling for the arrangements is what struck me- real musicians. AnotherRobbie Vincent discovery in UK terms I think?"Nights over Egypt' and 'I Close My Eyes' are breathtaking vocally, also 'Love(Don't Ever Say Goodbye)' which is just sublime. They're downhome and sensual at the same time, ie for real. Great to see x2 were invited over here, let's hope that can happen again.

Ever since I heard "Dance Turned Into A Romance" for the first time I knew immediately that "The Jones Girls" were the world's greatest singing group. After I was finally able to start buying their albums, I realized that with the exception of "Nights Over Egypt" and "Children Of The Night" all of my favorite Jones Girls songs are the songs that weren't released as singles. My all-time favorite recorded song is "At Peace With Woman" and a very close second is "The World Will Sing Our Song". I don't know of any female group that comes close to matching their sound and very unique harmonious blend. I listen to The Jones Girls practically everyday, and I never begin to tire of them. I will be listening to them forever. It's a real shame that they never received the commercial acceptance they deserved, but at least they have very loyal fans like myself who truly understand what real music sounds like. What truly sets the Jones Girls apart is the fact that even though Shirley is the main lead singer, Brenda and Valorie sound just as good to me when they sing lead. Valorie sings my all-time favorite song "At Peace With Woman". Brenda sings lead on my all time favorite love song "I Close My Eyes" and Shirley sings lead on my other all-time favorite love song "Get As Much Love As You Can". If any live albums ever come out featuring all three Jones Girls, someone please let me know. This would be a must own.
