The best of BBC radio

lockedon.jpgClick below for Radiocafé’s DEFINITIVE list of national and local BBC radio shows playing “our kind of music”.  For those who appreciate quality light and easy music in the true, traditional sense, including a portion of jazz, dance bands and big bands, there are many highlights still to be found on BBC radio.  Sadly, few are available on the national network and we would like to see a greater portion of the broadcasting spectrum dedicated to this kind of output.  If the BBC could bring together as one station all the local shows listed on this page, together with the listed Radio 2 shows, we think it would find a very welcoming audience indeed.  If you know of any other shows we have missed off this list, please let us know.

David Jacobs - BBC Radio 2Great BritainDAVID JACOBS CBE DL
BBC Radio 2, the David Jacobs Collection

One of the finest broadcasters of all times, sadly only given a late night Sunday slot for his hour of magical musical items.  Always features something wonderful from his own extensive collection.

Frank wappat has worked for the BBC for 39 years - he has an instantly recogniseable and sincere voice on the radio, possibly because he never uses a script. He can rattle off his shows on the BBC without even a running order and every track he plays has been digitally restored and re-mastered. Like a Psychometrist he seems to pick up the vibes from handling the discs. You can visit his website by clicking the link below.
