Without question one of the finest albums ever made. Only contains eight tracks but the phrase "less is more" was designed with Donald Fagen in mind, as each one is perfection. It may be 25 years old but it sounds as fresh and original as when it was recorded back in 1981.

You think you don't know Donald Fagen? If you've heard of "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" or "Do It Again " then you know Donald Fagan. During the 70s, as one of the two geniuses behind Steely Dan, he created a unique, timeless sound which is unclassifiable. Is it jazz? Is it pop? Is it rock? Who cares.1981 saw Donald go it alone with the seminal Nightfly album which rightfully ranks in many music connoisseurs' top 10 of all time. Unfortunately the world had to wait over a dozen years for the follow up, "Kamakiriad", which brought a return of the same, magical Fagen sound, untainted by the years of commercial influences and throw-away pop. Another 12 or so years later, and we have a further release - "Morph the Cat". A long time between releases perhaps; but small portions of high quality are often far more satisfying.
