ABOUT CHRIS SIMS
I began DJing when I was at School always wanting to use my first few bits of vinyl, tunes like Frank De Wulf - Acid Rock and acts like 808 State, really hooked me into the then whole new phenomenon that was Dance Music for a 16 year old kid in Ipswich.

And so my relationship with music began - I started buying records and going out to the DJ's I read about every month in Mixmag (Back when it was good). We would spend ages planning nights out to clubs like Club UK, Progress, Cream, Full Monty, The Gardening Club, Carl Cox at Velvet Underground - a 250 Capacity club on a Thursday night....it was all about the music. Trips to Ibiza and summers spent under the stars dancing to Smokescreen and DiY Illegal soundsystems in Quarries till 10 on a sunday morning - OUTSIDE PETERBOROUGH OF ALL PLACES!!!

MUSIC STYLES
Over the years I have developed a taste and a style that covers so much from deep house through to Techno - so long as its quality - that's what counts.

DJING
As for my DJing, on my clubbing travels I discovered a fantastic club in London's City area called Turnmills - For those that haven't been - GO! Its not the biggest club by any means but for decor, atmosphere, sound system and Line ups it took some beating....It was so good I had to play there. After months of persistence in sending CD's - handily getting a job round the corner from there as well all helped me land a Thursday night residency called Laidback playing alongside the Prophets of Sound, Roy The Roach, Ashley Beedle. My first big break came on my 30th Birthday - I was given the task of warming up the main room for Sister Bliss - An awesome experience. The back room in Turnmills is where its at though for me - its where legendary Ariel used to his all night Latinaires sessions for Roger Sanchez - people I met in that club from those nights have turned into some of my closest friends. I have played the back room many times now and am proud to have been asked back as often as I have - playing alongside some of my heroes and sources of inspiration. Clive Henry, Seamus Haji, Tanya Von Pear, Steve Lee, Krysko, Greg Vickers, Paul Woolford, Miss Jools all different in there own way but they all know how to rock a room!

MAKING THINGS HAPPEN IN NOTTINGHAM
I have recently relocated to Nottingham and now hold two residencies. One at white in Derby which is more of a bar but in the summer its outside terrace on a bank holiday is nothing short of SPACE proportions. The other is at Tantra in Nottingham city centre - Its a great little club that doesn't dictate my music policy so I get to go for it ! On top of all that working as a Print Consultant by day things sure are busy! Anyway that's me!
